Sustainable innovation is built into the architecture from the outset; it cannot be compensated for later. We reject planned obsolescence and dependence on cloud giants.

Our approach is technical and practical:

• 'Local-First' design: We design our software so that data travels as little as possible. Processing takes place primarily on your device, which drastically reduces energy consumption in data centres and speeds up performance.

  Durable and repairable equipment: Our electronic enclosures are designed to last. We prioritise modularity and repairability over routine replacement.

  High standards in Europe: Despite foreign dominance of the components market and cost constraints, we continue to manufacture in Europe.

Ethical and Local AI

AI should be a local tool serving the creator, not a distant master exploiting them.

VELVET FLARE takes a stand against the extractivist AI model. We refuse to allow your work to be used to enrich private models hosted in the United States.

Zero data extraction: Your creations and ideas belong to you. They are never used to train our algorithms or sold on to third parties.

Autonomy and offline capability: Your inspiration should not depend on an internet connection or a compulsory subscription. Our AI engines run locally, on your device. You can create wherever you like, without supervision.

Human-centred amplification: Technology is there to challenge you, stimulate you and open up new avenues—never to replace your artistic judgement. AI is a working partner, not an automatic generator.

Energy efficiency: By avoiding the cloud for AI processing, we avoid the use of energy-intensive data centres. An efficient AI is an energy-efficient AI.
